View Full Version : So Long, Old Friend!

The time has come to part from my best friend. I had it for 3 years and I loved every minute of driving it. I have invested so much time and money into it, that it makes me cry that I have to sell it for less than the blue book value. The car
has been modded so much, no one will buy it for its true worth(bitches). Anyway, here are some pics of it:

But, on the bright side, selling it will help me fund raise nearly all the money I need to repair my new ride(not really new, had it for 2 years, just no $$ to finish it).
Here are some pics of my "new" ride:

Cant wait to work on it.

so you are selling you car so you can fix up a totaled ML?

yup. it only needs body parts, everything else is ok, even the a/c still works, after 2+ years of inoperability.
is the chassis in good shape?...cause if the chassis is bent, nothing will line up porperly..
but good luck with it!

the frame is great shape. the car did not get into an accident, it rolled over. as you can see on the pic from the side, it seems little pushed in, but its no problem cuz i have the frame pulling machine at the shop, so its no problem if i encounter any structural damage.

Cool, you'll have to drive the hell out of it, because you know you'll never be able to sell it.

that all depends on how you handle it....if you switch titles from one state to another a few times, then "lose" the salvage marked title, then apply for a new one, you get a clean and clear one in return.
there's ways around everything.

the car has a clear title, so reselling it wont be hard. i bought it from a customer before the insurance totaled it.

so in the furture you are going to con ppl into buying that totaled ML? From the looks in the pictures that ML must have structural damage.

i put the car on the lift today, and saw no structural damage. even the pass. side under the side skirt is fine, it might need a few pull with an impact hammer, but that is not sturctural damage, just a dent. the roof is smashed, which i wll replace(of course), but the pillars are all fine.

ps my shop has sold 100+ salvage titled cars in the past 15yrs and all of our customers are happy with their cars, plus we give 1yr full warranty on most cars we sell.

i'm honestly trying to figure out why you'd get rid of a perfectly good car you love for a banged up ML.

because the mercedes resale value is dropping rapidly. if i waited another 3-4 months, I wouldn't be able to sell it for even $6000, right now i'm asking $9000 w/ everything on it.

ps guys, check out my SEMA 2004 post in the autotalk and motorsports forum.
you could probably buy a used non f'ed up ML for the amount of money you will spend on fixing this one up....
OEM replacement parts are expensive as hell......

something must be wrong with the c-klasse...
if anything i'd be keeping it...
and slowly piecing the ml back together....
that is if i even wanted to piece back a louisana made german suv...
i'd much rather restore a G klasse
or S Klasse or CLK Klasse
but an ML?
good luck with restoration and good luck reselling...

Finally sold my "C28". Its been a nice ride, but I need something newer, nicer, and more powerful, maybe an M3 of even an M5, but no AMG(not until I'm assured that it wont catch on fire). For now I'm left with my 740i, which I'm getting to love more and more every day.
nenad
After dissing the ML I think their alright. Good luck with your project ;).

Catch on fire?! What? The M line of cars (especially the E46 M3) have been known to blow up too... You must be driving them wrong :o

well my E55 caught on fire while I was racing on the freeway, but I dont think racing is what caused it to burn. rather, the electrical was the culprit, and I did nothing to the electrical system, not even a powerchip. the car had only 12K miles.

if i were you, i'd try to wait one or two more years for the new M3 to come out with over 400hp and just keep the 740i for now.

Thats what I'm probably gonna do. the 740i is a beast, something my 280 never was, even with all those mods. I figure, bimmers are much cheaper to tune than benzes. so I will probably stick with bimmers for a while.
plus, you dont see that many tricked out 7 series around here, mostly 3 and 5. now that I sold my benz, I have some doe to spend on my 740i.

I dont like dinan, they are not very reliable, especially in the chiptuning department. plus they are expensive as hell. I was looking at Hartge and Schnitzer body kits, they are pretty nice, and as far as the chip goes, I would love to get a jim conforti chip, but I cant find any for my car. apparenty my 740i is pre OBD2 even though its 1996, meaning that only 1995 year model 740i chip will fit, but like I said conforti chips does not have any for my car, so I am limited to powerchip and upsolute, I will most likely go with upsolute since they raise top speed limiter slightly.

Aww, so you mean you have the 4.0 liter engine and not the 4.4 then huh. I like Dinan equipment alot but the AC Schnitzer kit looks excellent on the e38 as well!! I haven't heard of Jim Confronti chip though! Act fast though, because these vendors will start discontinuing the parts, which the might have already done. I will do some searching for you and let you know what I find!!

yeah, its 4.0. jim conforti is the guy that came up with shark injector. Thank you on your offer, but I'm not in a hurry to body mod my car. Infact, I will probably keep this one for less than a year, and search for an M3 or even an M5.
