While there's a lot of discussion on K&N and whether it really helps, I've never had a problem with my Performance Air Filter. I clean it out every year or so and oil it lightly.

Even if it doesn't help the car breath better, at least I spent $75 dollars once on a filter that I can reuse rather than $30 every 50K miles to replace a Mann or Warner one.

What are your experiences?

i dont know if it is the source of my problem...i posted in the club202 aobut my visit to autozone and pulling codes, if some one will be kind to help me out there

but i had very good gains prolly cause my oem filter had 130k miles on it and it was smoke black looking when i replaced it so that is why i felt so much gain...i was loosing hp with the stock one..but i still paid $42 for mine.

I have them in my car and I couldn't be happier. Aside from the obvious fact that I never need to buy new filters, and what Vodka G said about the dyno, I can actually feel a little bit more pull towards the upper RPM. Although I don't know how much of that is due to the K&N and how much is due to just getting rid of the dirty ass filters that were in there before, it's still nice. Its' probably a little of both.

do u have to do any mods to the K&N before installing it? cuz the paper filter i have in there now had to be modified before i was able to close the airbox because theres this plastic thing blocking it. i had to cut a line out of the paper filter for it to fit in properly into my c230k. anyone else had this experience?

K&N filter has worked great for me.

here is what i've found out and this is the honest truth..

- no increase in horsepower
- no increase in gas mileage

but

- smoother power delivery
- better acceleration above 80mph

I like my K&N also, its nice to be able to clean it and the cotton fibers feel much nicer than the paper ones. I didnt notice any performance gain but it sure looks cool with that redish purplish color.

I run a K&N and have not had problems, but still the next bunch of parts have sent will have an OEM paper filter in it. Rather replace the filter every 30k then replace a MAS.
