The cars; E39 M5 (modded) Vs. W208 CLK55 (with a couple of goodies)

Well last night I was with my gf leaving the Japan Town parking lot after having a light snack. So, while I was waiting for my turn to exit I hear a car revving behind me. I guess he wanted to be heard or maybe he wanted to show off to his gf. It was a nice M5 no doubt. Nice set of rims and an exhaust. So, I was pretty sure he was going to try to run me once we got out of the lot. Anyways, not wanting to get bullied I mashed out of the lot and fish tailed out. :P Just my luck there are 3 open lanes with no cars and he gets next to me. So, we both know it's on. Light turns green and I feather the trottle off the line since I have my tiny stocks on for the winter. I finally lay down the hammer, but still manage to fish tail for a few feet. I get traction and look down for a second and I'm going 80-85 mph. I then look in my mirrior and he's a good 5 cars behind me, and I hit the brakes and he does the typical ricer fly by. Typical BMW driver who had no respect for AMG's.

quad exhaust? or an exhaust? does 540i sport ring a bell?

if it's the real M5, unless he missed shifted, they will be pretty even w/ the older 55s.

If it was a 540 sport, he did a great job replicating it. From the M5 black moldings to the M5 emblems. I checked out his car in the parking lot when I first got there. This isn't the first time I've ever run with a M5 either. I've actually raced 4 different M5's. This is just the first time posting it. He may have a slight edge in hp on me, but I have mounds more torque and I have the weight advantage. I've ran countless M3's as well as a couple of C32's.

im pretty sure he knows the difference between the two. it came down to a choice between the M5/CLK55 when he was looking for a new car. i still think his M Roadster would have given either car a pretty damn good run. but, he's pretty much an AMG convert now.

:werd:
i've owned both cars and the e39 m5 definetly owns.
but then again you say you only raced a short lenght right? reason being, the m5 is a heavy 4-door sedan that starts pulling hard -after third gear and every gear after that. the gears on the m5 are long, so if you say you let off the gas at about 80-85, around that point he'd just be shifting into third

Hmmm, I don't think the old 55's can take the new 32's right??
