I took the calipers to a shop where they powder coat items. Basically the heat them up to 450 F Deg and apply the powder coating material (like rubber powder) and then let it cool off, cook it again and apply a second coat (I have a special color that requires two coats).

As an aside, tP was going to get his E55 calipers powder coated quite some time back, but was told that the heat required would be bad for the brakes. Have you gotten any confirmation that this process is completely safe? Perhaps tP's issue was simply the pistons, which you have obviously taken care of. Just wanted to know.

Also, do you mind telling us how much it was?

Powder coating is just fine with the calipers, since only the calipers see the heat, pistons and rings are out, cooling is natural so the iron will go back to its normal size once cool, these guys have been doing it for years, mostly to corvettes.
I paid $130.00 with tax (it costed 35% more than normal because of the color I chose)
I'm going to start intallation in 15 minutes, pics will follow later ;)

Looking good, I still need to take the car out of the garage to take more pics, but here they are installed
Edit: 1 hour 45 minutes to install, bleed and put tires on, wash my hand and post these pics, not bad for an amateur on mechanics :D

Misplaced???? Don't know, they were there when I bought the car, I think they are factory. Remember my car is a 1999 model.

The thing is that these do not come on the US model. IT looks like an aftermarket job. They should be much lower, by the trim I think.

A little far for me, but I'm very satisfied with the work.
Next, the rears!

I rather pay a little more for quality, but I've always thought that way.
In my case they are really far, as I live in Pasadena, behind Clear Lake

They look amazing!
-G'day-
Pocholin,
Where can I buy a used E55 front brake kit?
Where did you get yours?
Is the caliper steel or aluminum?
Thanks.
Pocholin,
Is this an E55 amg caliper?
It looks like it is a 2-piston floating caliper.
MB claims the E55 caliper is a 4-piston fixed caliper.

Sorry for the late replies guys:
xyz, thise are the original calipers from factory, yes they claim 4 piston calipers, I guess they add the front amount of pistons 2 FL + 2 FR
The calipers seem to be steel (heavy as hell), if you want AMG calipers as far as I know MB dealer is your only option.
Nektopoli, They require that you bring the calipers dissasembled, they don't do any mechanical work, they only do one thing and they do it right, powder coat.
