So today at the car show in Pismo Beach, Jun and I were shown a killer metal polisher and sealer. The dude showing us how it worked, took a can of soda, showed us the dull bottom, put the stuff on it, rubbed it and BLING BLING it looked like chrome and to the touch felt like it too! INCREDIBLE!
So then I go home and try to do my lips on the wheels and I realize that I have clear coat and so I get nothing different. Now the guy told me to use "EZ off oven degreaser/cleaner" to strip the clearcoat, and then use the metal polisher.
What do you think of that?
Or should I go Scotty way w/ the walmart stripper?

Do what scotty did since its proven to work. I have yet to test my polish also...are you doing the lip or the whole wheel? I'm just jumping back and forth on whether I should do the entire wheel or just the lip on those hamanns:(
Im problably also going to go in the engine bay and see if theres any alluminum that I can make bling:D
Good luck and post pics once your done.

Nice nice, I'll prolly do jus the lip too, gives it more contrast and not too much bling for an e46 coupe.

Ok so I went and got the same stuff Scotty got (almost, I got the liquid brush on stripper rather than spray). So I brush the lip, and waited 10-15 min, then came back and holy cow, the clear coat was coming off! COOL! So I used a hard brush to brush it off, but it was still on. I guess I didn't get the "premium" stripper. I put some more, did the same thing. Night had fallen so I stopped, and I just exposed the metal on one part, got my magic metal polish, and polished it up... and OMG! Looks like Chrome now! INCREDIBLE!
Scotty, your pics on the site don't show much shine. I don't know if it's the angle at which you took the pics or if it's just the way they are, but you should try my metal polish! It'll amaze you!
So tommorrow I gotta finish that wheel and the other 3 :)

After you're done with the metal polish are you going to apply the sealer as well? if you do so try taking some pic after you buff it off then apply some water to it to show everyone how incredible it is. ;) :)

yes, the pics are bad on my site and also, my lip not that big, but I'm getting new AMG's with fat lips in the future. Then I will do this process again.

Danny you can buy it at the hardware store. It's just some paint/varnish stripper. Klean Strip brand :)
Jun I haven't finished the wheels yet, but I'll put the sealant on it. It's pretty bling! :D
Scotty, wait till you see what your protege did :P

Yeah I did the same as Scotty and got awesome results (however I left the stripper on too long and damaged the paint a little on the face ugh!) But I used stuff called Quater (pronounced water) and its a pink cotton thats treated with some chemicals and as well my came out looking like chrome!! Thanks again Scotty!
